Technocopia is a maker space and community education organization. Located in downtown Worcester MA, at 44 Portland Street (behind the Hanover Theater). The 11,000 sq ft space occupies the entire 6th floor of the Printer’s Building. Recently renovated in 2019 the building is a hub for artists, creative entrepreneurs, film makers and community development organizations. With beautiful large windows covering all 4 walls, Technocopia has an amazing 360 degree view of the city.

Comprised of several classrooms, specialized tool rooms, a digital design studio and common work areas the space works well for a wide variety of disciplines. Members may opt to rent a cubicle for material storage or to create their own small dedicated workspace. Cubicle23 is an example of a member cube.

The way the space works is similar to a gym membership model. Monthly dues entitle you to use the equipment and facilities on your own schedule. Membership plans are available up to full 24/7 access.

The tools available are an impressive collection covering many disciplines including:

  • Woodworking & Turning
  • Metalworking & Welding
  • Glassworking Torches
  • Sewing Machines & Serger
  • Leatherworking
  • Digital Design Workstations
  • CNC Routing (4′ x 8′)
  • Laser Cutting (105 watt 48″ x 48″)
  • Vinyl Cutting
  • more…..

Technocopia offers tool training on all of the “major” machines. All tools require that you are trained properly before you have unrestricted access. This is an insurance requirement as well as common sense for your own safety. You do not have to be a member to take any of the classes or tool training.
